Scenario: You want customers to be able to book an entire room for princess-themed kids birthday parties. You want to offer these parties in the afternoons from Thursday to Sunday every week. The price is for the party, not per person, so you need to create a custom price where all spots are used when the listing is booked. You also want to collect a $150 deposit when a party is booked. You need to link the listing to a room resource so the room is reserved when customers book the listing.
| 1. | Create a listing from the Party template. Refer to Creating a listing (general) for more information. |
The listing is created and displayed in Preview mode. If you navigate away from the listing, you can find it again by clicking Manage | Listings and searching for the listing under Inactive listings.
| 2. | Edit the listing overview. |
You want to use the overview to explain that the listing pricing is for the party, not per person. You also want to identify how many kids (and parents) can attend the party, and mention that a deposit will be collected when the party is booked.
| 3. | Edit the terms and conditions. |
You want to identify any terms and conditions related to the booking. For example, since a deposit is being collected, you will want to explain how the deposit will be handled. You will also want to outline your policies for rescheduling, canceling, and no shows.
| 4. | Edit the pricing. |
The listing price is per party, so you need to make sure that the Spots available per timeslot and Spots used for price have the same value. This ensures that all spots are used when the party is booked. Next, you need to create a Custom price for the price per party.
| 5. | Enable deposit pricing. |
You want to collect a $150 deposit from customers when they book a party, so you enable deposit pricing and enter $150 as the deposit. You decide to charge the final amount for the booking to the customer's credit card 2 days before the party.
| 6. | Set the start and end date for the listing. |
When you created the party listing, the start and end dates defaulted to the day you created the listing. You want to set the availability for the entire year, so you change the start date to January 1 and the end date to December 31. This ensures that the listing is available for booking every week of the year.
| 7. | (Optional) Set the minimum notice required before booking. |
| 8. | (Optional) Create and assign questions to the listing. |
| 9. | Link a room resource to the listing. |
You want to reserve a specific room when a party is booked, so you link that resource to the listing.
You don't want customers to see (or select) this resource during checkout. Instead, you just want the resource to be automatically reserved when the listing is booked. To set this up, you select Hide this resource from buyers on listing & checkout.
