For some types of listings, such as parties or events, your store may want to allow the customer to pay a deposit to book a listing instead of the full listing price. You can either collect the remaining balance before the booking date or on the booking date.
It is a good practice to describe the store's deposit pricing policies in the listing's Terms &Â Conditions. For example, you will want to explain what happens to deposits if the customer reschedules, cancels, or doesn't show up for a booking.
Note: Deposit pricing is different from damage deposits. Damage deposits (sometimes called security deposits) are an extra fee collected in case the customer or their guests cause damage to equipment or the facilities during the booking.
